Haas driver Esteban Ocon has given his early predictions on the 2026 Formula 1 pecking order after teams tested at Barcelona, though he says it’s still too soon to be sure.
Ocon believes Mercedes may be the early favourite for the season based on their strong showing at the Barcelona shakedown test, where their new car ran many laps quickly and reliably. He also views Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren as competitive so far.
Behind the top teams, Ocon thinks the midfield group will be tighter, with his own Haas team, Alpine and VCARB close together. Audi and Cadillac are seen for now as a step behind the rest, partly due to early technical issues and being new to F1 power units.
Ocon stresses these impressions could change once official pre‑season testing continues in Bahrain, but the Barcelona results give a first look at how teams might stack up in 2026.
