Alonso Skips Japan FP1

Fernando Alonso will not take part in Free Practice 1 (FP1) at this week’s Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.

Aston Martin confirmed that third driver Jak Crawford will drive Alonso’s car in that first practice session.

F1 rules require every team to let a rookie driver do FP1 on four occasions this season.

This is Aston Martin’s first time using a rookie session for one of their cars this year.

Crawford has already driven in FP1 at two previous races (Mexico and Abu Dhabi).

Alonso is still expected to race normally after FP1 later in the Japanese GP weekend.

Skipping FP1 is just because of the rule and team strategy, not because of injury or other issues.
