Cadillac’s weak debut

On their first Formula 1 qualifying at the Australian Grand Prix, the Cadillac Racing cars driven by Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas were both knocked out in the first session, ending in 18th and 19th place and showing the team still has big problems to fix.

Cadillac struggled with performance and reliability in the lead‑up to qualifying, completing very few laps before the session.

Both drivers said simply finishing the session was progress, but the lap times made it clear the car lacks speed and grip, especially through corners, and needs development to be competitive.

The team will now focus on finding more downforce and mechanical grip as they work to improve the car before the race and future rounds.
