Valtteri Bottas, back in Formula 1 with the Cadillac team, was expected to start the Australian Grand Prix with a five-place grid penalty from an old incident.
However, the FIA has confirmed the penalty has been removed under current rules that ignore old grid drops, so he can start where he qualified.
Bottas said the penalty “has vanished” thanks to the rule change and he’s now free of that drop for his first race back.
