The FIM Board of Directors met in Lyon, France on 4–5 February 2026, just before the FIM Commissions Conference.
They discussed many important topics, including:

Sports updates: New promotion contracts were reviewed for several championships (Bagger, QuadCross, Enduro E-Bike, E-Bike City, and X-Trial). The FIM also shared plans to improve the FIM Bajas World Cup, including a new logo and upgrading the Trail category to World Cup level.

FIM Intercontinental Games: The next edition will be held on 23 January 2027 in Kuwait, and for the first time it will include Motocross (MX2) along with Supersport and Sportbike.

Rider safety: From 2026, FIM-approved helmets meeting the FRHPhe-02 standard will be mandatory in all FIM World Championships and FIM Prizes. They will be strongly recommended for Continental Championships in 2026 and mandatory in 2027.

Noise pollution: The Board discussed actions being taken with manufacturers and promoters to reduce motorcycle noise in both circuit and off-road competitions.

Ukraine situation: The FIM repeated its support for people affected by the war. It confirmed again that Russian and Belarusian riders, teams, and officials remain banned from FIM World Championship and Grand Prix events until further notice.

Finances: The FIM reported that its 2025 financial results and 2026 forecasts show the organisation is in a healthy financial condition.

Racing Motorcycle Museum: The museum will open to the public on 18 February 2026, featuring exhibits on heroes, technology, and how racing innovations reach road bikes. It will also include a Paddock Café.

FIM Academy: A new mentoring program called “She leads” was launched to support women in motorcycling through mentorship and leadership development.

Rules and regulations: Updates were approved for the Disciplinary Code and the Medical Code.

Future events: The FIM General Assembly and FIM Awards 2026 will be held in Monte-Carlo on 27–28 November 2026.
The weekend Commissions Conference will also include major sessions on concussion guidelines, protection frameworks, and a new FIM Events license, plus presentations from promoters about their 2026 calendars.
