Teutschenthal treats for Herlings and Adamo at the Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany

The tenth round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship delivered thrilling racing and unpredictable conditions at the iconic Talkessel circuit, as rain and sun played tag with the riders and fans. Jeffrey Herlings returned to winning ways in the MXGP class, while Andrea Adamo snatched the red plate in MX2 after a dramatic double-header that tested even the most seasoned competitors.

In MXGP, five-time World Champion Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) secured his 108th Grand Prix victory after a hard-fought second race win, passing teammate Lucas Coenen with just two laps to go. Coenen, who had claimed the first moto win, finished second overall on equal points, but Herlings claimed the top step thanks to his race two triumph. Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP) extended his lead in the championship with another consistent performance, rounding out the podium with third overall.

The first moto saw Coenen grab the holeshot and hold off Herlings in a tense battle, with Calvin Vlaanderen taking a solid third. Race two, however, turned chaotic with rain and lapped traffic affecting visibility and rhythm. Herlings capitalized on errors and traffic to pull off a spectacular double pass on Febvre and Coenen, clinching the race and overall win.

In the MXGP World Championship standings, Febvre maintains the red plate with 487 points, while Coenen closes the gap to 36 points behind. Herlings, with his latest win, climbs into the top 10 despite a late start to the season.

In MX2, it was a day of mixed fortunes. Home hero Simon Laengenfelder struggled in front of the German fans, losing the red plate to Andrea Adamo, who delivered a strategic and composed performance with 1-3 results. Guillem Farres (Monster Energy Triumph Racing) was the breakout star, earning his first career Grand Prix podium and a race two victory, making him the tenth different race winner in MX2 this season.

Sacha Coenen impressed with two Fox Holeshots but crashed out of the second moto after leading early. Kay de Wolf bounced back with a second-place finish in race two, securing a podium and re-entering the title conversation.

With Adamo’s overall win, the Italian now leads the MX2 Championship by just three points over Laengenfelder, setting the stage for an explosive second half of the season starting next weekend in Kegums, Latvia.
