The 2024 FIM General Assembly took place on December 6, 2024, in Palma, Mallorca, Spain, with 95 National Federations (FMNs) attending.
This meeting was part of a full week of events, which also included the FIM Board of Directors meeting, the International Foundation for Motorcycling (IFM) Board meeting, and the 2024 FIM Awards ceremony, where the 2024 FIM World Champions and Trophy winners were celebrated.
During the General Assembly, several important topics were discussed:

Report from the President: FIM President Jorge Viegas gave an overview of the FIM’s activities in 2024, including the 120th anniversary celebrations. This included the opening of the new FIM Headquarters, the first-ever FIM Anthem, a new FIM logo, and the successful launch of the Intercontinental Games in Jerez. The president also spoke about the creation of the International Court of Appeal and changes in the disciplinary processes.

Affiliations: Kosovo and Uzbekistan were officially added to the FIM, bringing the total number of National Federations to 123.

Finance: The General Assembly approved the 2023 financial statements and the 2025 budget.

Elections: Three members of the FIM Board of Directors, Mr. Abdulrahman AL-MANNAI, Mr. Ignacio VERNEDA, and Mr. Håkan LEEMAN, were re-elected for a 4-year term.

Sports and Regulations: Several updates were made, such as the creation of new events like the FIM Women’s X-Trial Trophy and the FIM Endurance World Trophy. The Assembly also discussed changes in Superbike and MotoGP regulations, as well as safety initiatives. A new Classic Motorcycles Commission (CMC) will be formed in 2025.

Women and Sustainability Initiatives: FIM highlighted efforts in women’s motorsports, sustainability, and mobility, including the Women’s Speedway Academy and the FIM Future Leaders programme.

Reports and Distinctions: Reports from various FIM departments were presented, and honorary awards were given to several individuals and organizations. Mr. Tony STEELE was honored posthumously, and the FIM Family Trophy was awarded to the Federation Motorcycling of Ukraine for their efforts in rebuilding a racetrack destroyed by the war.

FMNs Anniversaries: Seventeen National Federations celebrated important anniversaries, ranging from 10 to 120 years of existence.
President Jorge Viegas concluded the meeting by expressing his gratitude to everyone who attended and praised the beautiful organization of the event in Palma. He said it was a perfect way to end the year celebrating FIM’s 120th anniversary and looked forward to the 2025 season.
