Scott McLaughlin was involved in a frightening crash during IndyCar practice at Barber Motorsports Park but escaped without injury.
The incident happened when he lost control of the car at high speed while entering Turn 1.
His car spun backwards, went across the run-off area, and slammed into the barrier, even pushing into the catch fence.
The impact caused heavy damage to the car and forced the session to stop early.
Despite how dramatic the crash looked, McLaughlin was checked by medical staff and was confirmed to be okay.
He later said the crash felt less severe than it appeared but admitted he knew it was over once the car started spinning.
The team prepared a backup car so he could continue the race weekend after the incident.
