F1’s Key 2026 Factor

The FIA says the biggest performance difference in Formula 1’s 2026 season is likely to come from the internal combustion engine (ICE) because of major new engine and technical rules.

Initially some teams may pull ahead due to stronger ICE performance, but the FIA has introduced measures (like allowing extra upgrades depending on engine deficit) so slower teams can catch up later.

Over time, other factors like new aerodynamics and development will also influence performance, and the gap between teams is expected to tighten as the season progresses.
