FIA has officially confirmed the final technical regulations for World Rally Championship starting from 2027.
Under the new rules, rally cars (called WRC27) must obey a strict cost cap — no more than €345,000 — and produce around 300 horsepower, using a space‑frame chassis and some components from the existing second‑tier rally class.
The rules allow both established manufacturers and independent tuners to build WRC27‑cars, giving flexibility over car body types (sedans, hatchbacks, crossovers, or custom designs) while ensuring safety and competitiveness.
For at least the early phase — 2027 and possibly beyond — WRC27 cars will compete alongside current lower‑spec rally cars (Rally2) in top‑level events, to encourage more teams and entries.
These changes mark a new era for the WRC, aiming to make the championship more affordable, accessible, and competitive while still ensuring high standards of safety and performance.
