Britain’s Todd Kellett (Drag’on Yamaha) delivered a powerful and commanding win in the Moto class at round four of the 2025 FIM Sand Races World Championship, held at the Ronde des Sables Hossegor-Capbreton in France. His victory strengthens his reputation as the top rider in this demanding sand-racing discipline.
Kellett, aiming for his third straight championship title, has now won all four Moto races this season. Only his teammate Milko Potisek managed to complete the same number of laps—twenty—but still finished more than four and a half minutes behind. If Kellett wins again at the next round in Portugal, he could secure the championship early.
The race began with Kellett taking the lead immediately, followed by Cyril Genot (Honda). Potisek climbed through the pack, eventually moving into second place after Genot retired with just over an hour remaining. Kellett continued to extend his lead with clean riding and strong pace.
Behind the leaders, Dutch rider Lars Van Berkel (Fantic) finished third, followed by France’s Jeremy Hauquier (Yamaha). Paolo Maschio (Honda) took fifth, while Norwegian rider Hakon Fredriksen (Honda) suffered disappointment—he was fighting for a podium but didn’t complete his final lap and was marked as a non-finisher.
In the Moto Women category, the race took an unexpected turn. Defending champion Amandine Verstappen (Yamaha) was leading comfortably until she was forced to retire after ten laps. This allowed former champion Mathilde Denis (Fantic) to win the class and take the championship lead with fourteen laps completed. Sara Jugla (KTM) finished second.
The Moto Veteran class saw a close fight, with France’s Alexis Van De Woestine (GASGAS) taking the win on thirteen laps—just ahead of Uruguay’s Fernando Rubio (Honda), who increases his lead in the standings.
Earlier in the day, the Moto Junior race was won by Dutch rider Dean Gregoire (KTM), who completed twenty-six laps. France’s Evan Demeester (Honda) finished second and extended his championship lead.
The championship now heads to Portugal for round five, the Monte Gordo Sand Experience, happening this weekend (28–30 November).
