Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) is on the verge of one of the greatest comebacks in MotoGP history. More than 2,000 days after his last world championship in 2019, multiple injuries, surgeries, and team changes haven’t stopped him. Heading into the 2025 Motul Grand Prix of Japan, he sits just three points shy of the title, with Alex Marquez as his only rival.
The battle for third place is heating up between Francesco Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi, while Pedro Acosta and others from VR46 and KTM teams aim to make gains. Rookie riders like Fermin Aldeguer and Ai Ogura add extra excitement, particularly with home advantage at Motegi for Ogura. Honda and Yamaha riders are also eager to shine on home turf, including Fabio Quartararo, Jack Miller, Miguel Oliveira, Takaaki Nakagami, and Joan Mir.
In Moto2, Manuel Gonzalez leads the championship by 39 points, with Diogo Moreira and Aron Canet close behind as the flyaway races begin. Barry Baltus and star rookie Daniel Holgado remain in the mix.
In Moto3, Jose Antonio Rueda leads the championship by 78 points. Angel Piqueras is his closest rival, with Maximo Quiles, David Muñoz, and others vying for top positions. Japanese riders Taiyo Furusato and Ryusei Yamanaka hope to impress at home.
Japan promises high stakes in all classes as Marquez targets his seventh MotoGP title and other championship battles reach crucial stages.
