Verstappen’s Nürburgring GT Debut

Max Verstappen is set to make his Nürburgring race debut this weekend in the Nurburgring Endurance Series (NLS), driving a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS with Lionspeed GP. This marks a significant step in his motorsport journey beyond Formula 1.

Key Details:

  • Event: 65th ADAC ACAS Cup, Round 7 of the 2025 NLS season.

  • Team: Lionspeed GP, with Verstappen sharing driving duties with teammates Chris Lulham and Thierry Vermeulen.

  • Car: Porsche Cayman GT4 CS.

  • Objective: To obtain the DMSB Permit Nordschleife (DPN), a requirement for racing on the Nordschleife circuit.

  • Requirements for DPN:

    • Complete at least 14 laps in each car.

    • Cover a minimum of 20% of the race distance in each car.

In a typical four-hour race, the Caymans complete 25 to 26 laps, meaning Verstappen could fulfill the requirements with two stints of seven laps each.

This debut follows Verstappen’s previous test at the Nürburgring Nordschleife under the pseudonym “Franz Hermann,” where he reportedly set a new lap record.

The NLS features a wide array of classes, including top-tier GT3 cars, touring cars, and production vehicles, many of which are further divided into subcategories based on engine displacement.

Verstappen’s participation underscores his passion for motorsport and his commitment to expanding his racing horizons beyond Formula 1.
