MotoE World Championship Paused

The FIM and Dorna Sports have announced that the FIM MotoE World Championship will be put on hiatus after the 2025 season. Despite seven seasons of racing, MotoE has not gained enough popularity among fans, and the electric performance motorcycle market has not developed as expected.

The motorcycle industry is focusing more on efficient combustion engines and non-fossil fuels. MotoGP plans to switch to 100% non-fossil fuels by 2027, up from 40% in 2024, aligning with industry trends and their “Racing for the Future” initiative.

FIM President Jorge Viegas thanked riders, teams, and Dorna for their efforts, emphasizing that the sport is ready to embrace new innovations. Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta highlighted MotoE’s exciting races and champions but noted that fan engagement and market development influenced the decision to pause the series. MotoE may return in the future if electric or other sustainable technologies gain more relevance.
