The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) has released a new Safeguarding Framework to ensure motorcycling remains a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone involved.
The framework is designed to prevent and deal with harassment, abuse, misconduct, and discrimination, while protecting the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of all people in the FIM community. It applies to riders, teams, officials, volunteers, manufacturers, staff, and all FIM-related representatives.
FIM says it has a clear duty of care as the global governing body of motorcycling, and this framework makes that responsibility official. It sets clear standards of behaviour and introduces a zero-tolerance policy for psychological, physical, and sexual abuse, bullying, neglect, and discrimination.
The rules will be enforced through the FIM Code of Ethics, including procedures and possible sanctions. FIM also wants to be proactive by increasing awareness, encouraging reporting, and offering confidential reporting systems so concerns can be handled fairly and safely.
Overall, FIM says the goal is to strengthen a worldwide culture of respect, safety, and responsibility in motorcycling.
