The FIM has announced that additional helmets have now been homologated under the FRHPhe-02 standard, which will become mandatory in FIM championships from 2026.
Manufacturers including TROY LEE DESIGNS, KABUTO, SHOEI, LEATT, CABERG, SCORPION, BELL, and FLY RACING have introduced helmets that passed the FRHPhe-02 tests. Most helmets also hold ECE 22-06 certification, while KABUTO has JIS certification and SHOEI has both.
The FRHPhe-02 standard, developed with helmet manufacturers since 2022, improves rider protection beyond previous standards like ECE 22.06, Snell M2020, JIS T8133, and FRHPhe-01. New requirements include oblique and hemispherical impact tests, rotational impact assessments, quick-removal cheek pad tests, and a Skull Fracture Criterion.
The homologated helmets are confirmed by the FIM label sewn on the chin strap. Sizes now include a wider range for off-road and circuit racing models, ensuring more riders can access certified protection.
For more details, FIM has provided a video and lists of approved helmets for circuit racing and off-road use.
