Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur says that for the 2026 Formula 1 season, the focus should be on long‑term development rather than worrying about where the team qualifies in the first race in Melbourne.
He believes it’s natural for teams to go through a development “arms race” with new rules, but being P1 or P10 in the first race doesn’t matter much. What matters most is understanding the new regulations and improving consistently throughout the season.
Vasseur says Ferrari is concentrating on progress and adaptation rather than short‑term results, and this approach will be more important as all teams adjust to the new era of F1 power units and car design.
