Acosta Downplays Championship Lead

Pedro Acosta says he does not believe he should be leading the MotoGP championship, even after a strong start to the 2026 season.

The young KTM rider scored big points in Thailand, including a sprint win and a second-place finish, which put him at the top of the standings.

Despite this, Acosta insists his main goal is still to finish in the top five, not fight for the title right now.

He said the focus is on avoiding mistakes and staying consistent, especially after struggling with crashes earlier in his career.

Acosta also admitted it feels good to be leading, but he has “zero expectations” and wants to stay calm as the season continues.
