Aston Martin’s development of its 2026 Formula 1 car was delayed by about four months because the team changed its design direction mid-way through the process. This set back their progress compared with where they had planned to be.
The delay happened after the team realized their original concept wasn’t meeting expectations, so they went back to revise major parts of the design. As a result, they had less time to complete the car’s important components and wind-tunnel work.
Despite the setback, the team continued working hard to catch up and expected to show improvements as testing and the season approach. Aston Martin believes the extra time spent reworking the design will help them be more competitive once the 2026 season starts.
