Perez Rejects “Rusty” Label

Sergio Perez has formally disagreed with Mario Andretti’s claim that he would be “rusty” upon returning to Formula 1.

The Red Bull driver insisted that his experience and physical conditioning allow him to stay at a peak performance level.

Andretti had suggested that time away or inconsistent form could dull a driver’s sharpest competitive edges.

Perez countered by saying that modern simulators and rigorous training make it easier to stay race-ready than in the past.

He emphasized that his focus remains entirely on delivering results for the team during the 2026 season.

The veteran Mexican driver believes that mental strength is just as important as physical speed when returning to the cockpit.

Despite the legend’s comments, Perez feels more prepared than ever to fight at the front of the grid.
