Canosa Wins Costa Rica Round

The second round of the 2026 FIM Freestyle GP World Cup took place in San José, Costa Rica, delivering an exciting night of freestyle motocross at the National Stadium.

As part of the famous X-Knights Costa Rica event, the championship moved from its opening round in Pamplona to the Americas. Thousands of passionate fans filled the stadium, creating a lively atmosphere and showing Costa Rica’s strong support for FMX events. Top international riders competed, performing high-difficulty tricks with impressive consistency and creativity.

José “Mincha” Canosa claimed victory, successfully defending his San José win from last year and proving once again that he excels at this venue. Maikel Melero finished second and Dany Torres secured third after strong performances in a competitive final.

One of the most dramatic moments came when French rider David Rinaldo, who had been leading the championship, crashed on his final jump while attempting to secure the win. Fortunately, he was not injured, but he dropped to fourth place.

With this result, Canosa moves to the top of the 2026 championship standings, overtaking Rinaldo. After two rounds, the title fight is now tightly contested at the top as riders prepare for the final event of the season, which will decide the world champion.
