Domenicali Backs Verstappen

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has played down concerns that Max Verstappen might quit F1 because of his recent criticism of the new 2026 car regulations. Domenicali says he has a strong relationship with Verstappen and is confident the four-time world champion still loves and is committed to the sport.

Verstappen has openly criticised the new cars, describing them as less enjoyable and likening them to “Formula E on steroids,” and even suggested he might leave F1 if it no longer brought him joy.

However, Domenicali said he and Verstappen have had constructive discussions, and he expects driver feedback to evolve as teams and drivers adapt to the new cars throughout the season.

He believes that despite regulation changes, racing will remain exciting and that Verstappen’s future in F1 is secure because of his passion for the sport and long-term involvement.
