Last weekend, FIM President Jorge Viegas made his first visit to Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais, celebrating its 50th edition and concluding the current FIM Sand Races World Championship.
During his visit, Mr. Viegas met with the Mayor of Le Touquet Pas-de-Calais, Daniel Fasquelle, and experienced the race firsthand.
Speaking about the event, Viegas said he was extremely impressed by its scale and organization, noting that it sets a unique model for sand racing events in Europe. He also expressed confidence that the championship will attract new riders and manufacturers from around the world in upcoming seasons.
On behalf of FIM, he congratulated and thanked the event organizers, the French Federation (FFM), FIM officials, partners, volunteers, and all stakeholders, highlighting the huge crowd of over half a million despite challenging weather.
He also praised all 2,500+ riders, both amateur and professional, who tackled the tough conditions, and gave special recognition to Todd Kellett, the first-ever FIM Sand Races World Champion, along with Mathilde Denis, Pablo Violet, and Benoit Sebert, who won in their respective World Cup classes.
