The FIM has introduced a new FIM Event Licence, together with a dedicated insurance package, to improve protection for everyone involved in FIM motorcycle events across all disciplines.
While riders are already covered by the FIM Rider’s Insurance Programme, this new licence expands insurance coverage to other key participants such as team staff, mechanics, engineers, officials, volunteers, media personnel, service providers, parents, and partners.
FIM President Jorge Viegas said the initiative recognises the many people whose hard work makes FIM events possible and ensures they can take part with greater confidence and peace of mind.
The Event Licence provides personal insurance during FIM and Continental events, including World Championships, Grands Prix, and training camps. Coverage applies in all event-related areas such as paddocks, pit lanes, refuelling zones, liaison routes, and also during travel to and from events.
Available on a voluntary basis, the licence can be taken for a full season or for individual events. It includes options for medical assistance, repatriation, and death or disability cover, with easy registration through the FIM Extranet.
With this programme, the FIM strengthens its commitment to safety, welfare, and professionalism throughout motorcycle sport.
