Despite his victory in Miami, Lando Norris admitted he left the circuit unsure if McLaren had truly maximized the performance of their latest car upgrades.
The British driver expressed concerns that while the car was fast enough to win, the team might have left even more potential on the table due to setup compromises.
Norris highlighted that the weekend felt “messy” at times, and he believes the car’s true ceiling hasn’t been reached yet because they didn’t perfect every session.
His cautious outlook stems from a desire to ensure McLaren can consistently challenge Red Bull on different track layouts, rather than relying on race-specific circumstances.
Team Principal Andrea Stella agreed with the driver’s assessment, noting that the team still needs more data to fully understand the aerodynamic window of the new parts.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming races, where McLaren aims to prove that their Miami pace was a permanent step forward rather than a one-off performance.
