McLaren has officially completed the first shakedown of its new MCL-HY LMDh challenger at a private testing facility in Italy.
The test marks a significant milestone for the British manufacturer as it prepares to enter the top class of endurance racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Engineers focused on checking basic systems, including the hybrid powertrain and electronic integration, ensuring all components functioned correctly before high-speed testing begins.
While the car ran in a camouflage testing livery, the initial feedback from the development drivers was positive regarding the vehicle’s initial balance and reliability.
This project represents McLaren’s return to the pursuit of overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race they famously won in 1995 with the F1 GTR.
Following this successful rollout, the team plans to move into an intensive aero-mapping and endurance program across various European circuits throughout the summer.
