F1 Star Negotiations On Hold

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have reportedly paused their respective contract discussions as the 2026 driver market enters a state of flux.

Verstappen is currently considering his options, which include staying with Red Bull, taking a sabbatical, or potentially moving to Mercedes.

While his contract runs until 2028, frustrations with the new technical regulations and Red Bull’s recent form have fueled speculation of an early exit.

Lewis Hamilton, now racing for Ferrari, has also put a halt on renewal talks to monitor how the team adapts to the current regulation cycle.

The pause comes as teams and managers wait for a “big move” from Verstappen, which is expected to trigger a series of shifts across the grid.

Contract expirations for more than half of the current F1 drivers are adding further complexity and urgency to the ongoing negotiations.

Both champions are prioritizing performance and the long-term potential of their teams before committing to new multi-year agreements.
