F1 Prepares for New Rules

Formula 1 has identified a crucial lesson regarding car weight and size ahead of the major 2026 regulation changes.

The sport is aiming to create “nimble” cars to fix the issues caused by the current generation’s heavy and bulky designs.

Recent data shows that while aerodynamic changes helped cars follow each other, excessive weight still hampers overall racing agility.

Engineers are now focused on reducing the wheelbase and width of the cars to make them more suitable for tight street circuits.

There is also a strong emphasis on balancing the new hybrid power units to ensure they don’t add unnecessary bulk to the chassis.

F1 leadership believes that smaller cars will naturally lead to more overtaking opportunities and exciting wheel-to-wheel battles.

The goal is to move away from the “tank-like” feel of modern cars and return to a more responsive driving experience for the athletes.
