In the first lap of the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman escaped what could have been a massive crash when rival Isack Hadjar’s car suddenly spun in front of him.
Hadjar lost control at high speed in a tricky corner, and Bearman had to quickly take evasive action, going off track into the run‑off area to stay out of a collision.
Bearman said he feels very lucky to come through it safely, calling the incident a “monster shunt” that could have ended badly if he hadn’t reacted instantly.
Despite starting poorly, he recovered well after that scare and fought his way back into the points, finishing strongly later in the race.
