Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto said that during the Australian Grand Prix he passed other cars unintentionally because of how quickly his car was closing the gap on them.
The new 2026 Formula 1 rules have made races unpredictable, and Bortoleto felt the need to think more about energy use and overtaking strategy while racing.
He started the race in 10th place and finished ninth, scoring points for Audi in its first-ever Grand Prix.
Bortoleto admitted he’s still getting used to the complex new regulations and learning as he goes.
