Ferrari Stands by 2025 Freeze

Ferrari says it made a deliberate decision to stop development of its 2025 F1 car as early as April — even though this has contributed to a slump in performance.

According to team-principal Frederic Vasseur, the move was taken because rivals — especially McLaren — were so dominant that catching them seemed unlikely.

With limited resources under the budget cap and new 2026 rules looming, Ferrari redirected all development toward next season’s car.

Vasseur admitted the decision hurt team morale more than expected — but said that despite frustrations, he still believes focusing on 2026 was the right long-term strategy.
