Drivers Criticize Formula 1 Rules

Formula 1 drivers warn that an entertaining, action-packed Canadian Grand Prix does not mean the sport’s current technical regulations are working perfectly.

Several grid members emphasized that the chaotic and thrilling race in Montreal was entirely triggered by unpredictable weather and safety cars rather than good car design.

Drivers remain highly critical of the current heavy, wide cars, noting that overtaking remains incredibly difficult on standard, dry racing circuits.

They urged Formula 1 decision-makers not to use the exciting Canadian race as an excuse to ignore the deep, underlying issues with the current rules package.

With major regulation changes planned for the future, drivers are pushing for lighter, more agile cars that can race wheel-to-wheel without relying on rain to create excitement.
