Andrea Dovizioso believes that Marc Marquez’s current physical struggles are much more concerning than they appear on the surface.
Marquez is currently recovering from shoulder surgery following an injury in late 2025, which has hampered his start to the 2026 season.
Dovizioso noted that seeing a champion lose several seconds per lap suggests there is a deeper issue beyond just basic bike setup.
The Italian veteran explained that the injury directly affects Marquez’s ability to push, pull, and stabilize his body during high-speed turns.

Marquez has admitted he is not yet at “100%” and is currently riding in a “strange way” as he adapts to his physical limitations.
While he showed flashes of speed in Brazil, his inconsistent performance in other races has raised questions about his long-term recovery.
Dovizioso worries that the lack of a quick solution for these fitness issues could prevent Marquez from returning to his dominant form.
