WEC Qatar Opener Postponed

The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season opener in Qatar has been postponed because of escalating conflict and security concerns in the Middle East.

The Qatar 1812 km race, originally scheduled for March 26–28 at Lusail International Circuit, will now be held later in the season, with a new date to be confirmed.

Organisers said rising tensions and safety risks made it impossible to hold the event as planned, prioritising the well‑being of drivers, teams and fans.

With this change, the season will begin instead with the Six Hours of Imola in Italy in mid‑April.

Officials from the championship and local partners are working to finalise a revised schedule for the postponed Qatar race later in the year.
