As the 2026 MotoGP season begins, Marc Márquez enters as a top favorite not just for another world title, but also with a chance to break several historic records in the sport.
After winning the 2025 title with Ducati, Márquez is already tied with legends like Valentino Rossi on nine total career world championships, and a strong 2026 could push him ahead in the all-time rankings.
One major target this year is to add another premier-class (MotoGP/500cc) world title, which would move him closer to Giacomo Agostini’s record of eight titles in the top class.
Márquez is also closing in on all-time win records across all categories; he currently has 99 Grand Prix victories and could reach 100 wins early in the season, something only a handful of riders have ever done.
In the premier class alone, he is chasing more victories to narrow the gap with Rossi’s long-standing record for most wins, though matching or beating it would require an exceptionally dominant year.
Another record within reach is his own best number of wins in a single season, which he set in 2014. If he repeats a similar performance in 2026, that mark could be extended further.
Overall, the 2026 season offers Márquez a chance to cement his legacy among MotoGP’s greatest ever riders — not just by competing for the title again, but by potentially rewriting the record books.
