All of the Mercedes-powered Formula 1 teams have spoken positively about Red Bull’s new engine, saying it appears to be strong and well-designed.
While they recognize its performance in early testing, there’s also talk about how much politics and outside influence may have shaped opinions and rules around the engine.
In other words, teams admit the engine looks good, but some of the praise and scrutiny could be influenced by the ongoing dispute over engine rules and how regulators are handling it.
So while the technical performance is respected, the situation also has a political angle behind it.
