Cadillac Not Targeting Points

The new Cadillac Formula 1 team says it isn’t focusing on scoring championship points in its first 2026 season. Instead of setting points as a goal, team boss Dan Towriss says their priority is improving the car, beating other teams on track and steadily moving up the grid over the long term. Focusing on points right away would be “short‑term thinking,” he explained, and the team wants to build a strong foundation for future success rather than just chasing early results.

Cadillac has already begun testing its car with shakedowns and laps at the Barcelona and Bahrain sessions, but Towriss admits they may start the season behind more established teams in areas like aerodynamics. The team is using Ferrari power units and working hard on reliability and development, and their performance throughout the year will show how quickly they can improve.

Overall, Cadillac’s approach is to grow steadily as a new team in the highly competitive sport, with a long‑term plan rather than immediate expectations for points or top finishes in 2026.
