At the official 2026 MotoGP Sepang Shakedown Test in Malaysia, Honda finished at the top of the timesheets thanks to Aleix Espargaro, who set the fastest lap with a time of 1:57.173 on the final day. His lap would have been quick enough to earn a good starting spot in a real race.
Espargaro was the only Honda rider to take part, and his brother Pol Espargaro, riding for Red Bull KTM, was second fastest, just 0.126 seconds behind.
Yamaha also performed well after missing the first day, with Fabio Quartararo finishing third and Alex Rins fourth on the new Yamaha machines. Several rookies and test riders from other teams, including Ducati and Aprilia, also completed the test and gathered useful data ahead of the full preseason testing.
