Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff says the team’s current preparation for the 2026 Formula 1 rule change does not feel the same as it did before the start of their dominant 2014 era.
He explained that in the winter before 2014, Mercedes already had confidence because they were ahead in testing and reliability, but this time it’s much harder to know where rivals stand and the competition is stronger.
Wolff says Mercedes is on track with its work but it’s too early to predict how competitive the team will be under the new regulations.
