Kellett Nears 2025 Sand Title

British rider Todd Kellett (Drag’on Yamaha) heads to Portugal’s Algarve this weekend (28–30 November) for the Monte Gordo Sand Experience, the 5th round of the 2025 FIM Sand Races World Championship. If he wins in the Moto class, he will secure the world title.

A victory would also lock in the Quad title for Pablo Violet (France) and the Moto Veteran title for Fernando Rubio (Uruguay). In Moto Women, former champion Mathilde Denis now leads after her recent win in France.

Moto Class: Kellett vs Potisek

This year the Moto category has become a full FIM World Championship.
Kellett, 28, hasn’t lost at Monte Gordo since 2023 and is aiming for his third straight crown. His teammate Milko Potisek (France) is 29 points behind and must finish ahead of Kellett to stay in the fight.
Only one more rider, Jeremy Hauquier, has a mathematical chance, but he is 49 points down.

Moto Women: Tight Battle

Defending champion Amandine Verstappen had mechanical trouble while leading last weekend and scored no points.
With Denis taking full points, she now leads the standings by just two points.
Sara Jugla sits 20 points behind in third.

Other Classes

  • Moto Junior: Evan Demeester leads Matheo Gerat by 12 points.

  • Moto Vintage: Freddy Seguin leads Sebastien Antony by 2 points.

  • Moto Veteran: Rubio has two wins and two seconds and leads by 31 points—he could clinch the title this weekend.

  • Quad: Reigning champion Violet has a 34-point lead and could seal another title.

  • Quad Veteran: Benoit Sebert leads by 11 points, despite Dirk Schelfhout winning the last two races.
