Cardiff Speedway GP Dropped for 2025: FIM and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports regret to announce that the 2025 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain in Cardiff will no longer be part of next season’s schedule.
After three years of investment in the event, it is no longer financially feasible due to rising costs and lower attendance. This decision was made in consultation with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
However, there will still be 10 rounds in the 2025 season. An exciting double-header event will take place in Manchester on June 13-14, giving British fans a chance to enjoy two live rounds at the National Speedway Stadium.
Jean-Baptiste Ley, the Motorsport Events Director at WBD Sports, expressed thanks to all the partners who helped make the Cardiff event possible in recent years. He also reassured fans that WBD Sports is committed to making the 2025 FIM Speedway GP series exciting for fans.
Ley highlighted the success of the 2024 season, with record numbers of viewers and sold-out events, including the biggest speedway crowd of nearly 50,000 at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. He also expressed excitement about bringing the event to the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester in 2025, a key location for British speedway fans.
The decision to remove Cardiff from the calendar was made because of logistical challenges, higher costs, and fewer spectators, especially after the pandemic. The change is intended to ensure the long-term success of the series.
The 2025 FIM Speedway Grand Prix season will begin in Germany on May 3, with Polish world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik aiming for a record sixth title.
