The FIM Sand Races World Cup riders are heading to Portugal for the second-to-last round of the competition: The 2024 FIM Sand Races World Cup moves to Portugal this weekend (22-24 November) for the Monte Gordo Sand Race, which is the fifth round of the series.

Three riders are still perfect, holding maximum points in the six-round competition.

Moto Class
The defending champion, Todd Kellett from Britain, is leading the Moto class. He started his title defense with wins in France and Argentina, and continued his winning streak in Italy. At 27, he has a 45-point lead over Jérémy Hauquier from France. Kellett only needs a win this weekend to secure the championship, but anything can happen in this unpredictable sport.

Moto Women
Belgium’s Amandine Verstappen has already secured the Moto Women title with four wins this season.

Moto Junior 2
In the Moto Junior 2 class, French rider Paolo Maschio is in a strong position to win the title with four victories, leading Leopold Magnien by 44 points.

Moto Veteran & Vintage
In Moto Veteran, Gregory Deleu has an 8-point lead. Felix Faure leads the Moto Vintage class by 10 points over Sebastien Antony. Matheo Gerat is ahead by 9 points in Moto Junior 1.

Quad Class
In the Quad class, 22-year-old Frenchman Pablo Violet leads Keveen Rochereau by 25 points. Rochereau has won the last two rounds and needs to finish ahead of Violet in Portugal to keep his title hopes alive.

Axel Dutrie leads the Quad Veteran class by 33 points, while Nathanaelle Abgrall is in a strong position to win the Quad Women title. In the Quad Junior class, Alois Waloszek leads by 45 points.

Race Schedule
Races will take place on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Moto race starts at 12:45 (local time) for 90 minutes, followed by the Quad race at 15:30 (local time) for 60 minutes. On Sunday, the Moto race will be at 13:45 (local time), and the Quad race will be at 15:30 (local time).
