Wolff Warns Mercedes Drivers To Cool It

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has admitted he may be forced to step in and limit the aggressive racing between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli following their intense duels at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The two Mercedes drivers engaged in fierce wheel-to-wheel battles across both the Saturday Sprint and Sunday’s main race, trading positions and coming incredibly close to colliding.

While acknowledging that the fierce competition was highly entertaining for the fans, Wolff highlighted that several close calls could have easily resulted in a disastrous double retirement for the team.

He explained that while Mercedes could afford to let them fight due to their massive pace advantage in Canada, they cannot risk throwing away crucial points when the field tightens up at future tracks.

Moving forward, Wolff stated he will not hesitate to implement strict team orders and “put the handbrake on” their internal rivalry if their actions begin to threaten the team’s championship prospects.
