Norris Defends McLaren Strategy Gamble

Lando Norris has defended McLaren’s aggressive strategy choice at the Canadian Grand Prix, insisting the team had valid reasoning despite the gamble completely backfiring.

With unpredictable rain hitting the Montreal circuit before the start, McLaren took a major risk by putting both cars on intermediate tires while the majority of the grid opted for slicks.

The gamble initially paid off as Norris surged into an early lead, building a quick advantage, but his race fell apart rapidly as the track dried much faster than anticipated.

The high-wear conditions destroyed his tires, ultimately forcing a costly pit stop that dropped him down the order before he officially retired from the race later on.

Despite leaving Canada with zero points and his teammate Oscar Piastri stating they “looked like idiots,” Norris stood by his pit wall, stating they must take such risks on the chin and learn from them.
