New Constructor Joins WRC Top

Spanish rally car builder RMC Motorsport has announced plans to enter the World Rally Championship’s top tier starting in 2027.

The team will develop a new car under the WRC’s upcoming cost-capped regulations, featuring a unique bodywork design not linked to any current road model.

Development is already underway, with the first rollout of the car scheduled for October this year.

RMC Motorsport intends to compete in at least half of the 2027 season before committing to a full championship campaign in 2028.

Testing will be led by experienced driver Javier Villa, while the final race line-up—potentially featuring top Spanish talent—is yet to be decided.

The project aims to build reliable winning cars and also sell them to customer teams within the WRC industry.

This move follows Belgian outfit Project Rally One in committing to the FIA’s new sustainable, 1.6-litre turbocharged technical framework.
