Verstappen Criticism Explained

Audi F1 team boss Jonathan Wheatley says Max Verstappen’s strong criticism of the new 2026 Formula 1 rules is partly because Red Bull has struggled in the opening races of the season.

Wheatley, who used to work with Verstappen at Red Bull, believes Verstappen’s complaints about the new cars and regulations are influenced by his current results and frustrations rather than the overall quality of racing.

Wheatley also pointed out that many drivers and teams have enjoyed exciting races under the new rules, and he felt the racing has been clean and competitive.

He suggested that while the sport continues to adjust the 2026 regulations, Verstappen’s position on them reflects where he finds himself this season.
