Formula 1’s 2026 season is shaping up to be highly competitive after pre-season testing in Bahrain, and Motorsport.com’s experts have made early predictions for both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships.
Constructors’ Championship forecast: Mercedes is widely tipped to lead the standings due to strong performance in testing, with Ferrari and McLaren expected to battle closely behind. Red Bull is currently placed fourth, followed by Alpine, Haas, Racing Bulls, Williams, Audi, Aston Martin and Cadillac.
Mercedes’ new car, powered by its own engine, impressed in long-run pace during testing, and analysts believe this could give them the edge over rivals as the season unfolds. George Russell is seen as a key asset for Mercedes’ title bid.
In the Drivers’ Championship projections, several top names are expected to contend as well. Early outside predictions (including discussions in the F1 paddock) have highlighted drivers like Russell and Lando Norris as potential title challengers under the new regulations, with Max Verstappen also remaining a strong competitor.
While it’s still early and development across the grid will continue throughout the season, these initial forecasts provide a picture of which teams and drivers may be positioned for success as the 2026 campaign begins.
