Defending Quad class champion Pablo Violet (Drag’on Yamaha) increased his points lead after winning round four of the 2025 FIM Sand Races World Championship, held at the Ronde des Sables Hossegor-Capbreton in France.
The 23-year-old French rider battled closely with Belgian competitor Oliver Vandendijck (Honda) for almost the entire two-hour race. Both riders stayed wheel-to-wheel through the tough sandy track, but Violet finally pulled ahead on the last lap despite suffering two big crashes and getting stuck three times. His victory strengthens his position ahead of the next round in Portugal.
Vandendijck, who was a strong contender last season and had led in the previous round before a mechanical issue, finished right behind Violet after completing fifteen laps.
In the Quad Veteran class, Belgium’s Dirk Schelfhout (Honda) took his second consecutive win and was the only other registered rider to match the leaders with fifteen laps. French rider Paul Waterlot (Honda) followed with fourteen laps, finishing ahead of Portugal’s Nuno Goncalves (Yamaha). Goncalves also secured second in the Veteran category, moving him into a tie for second in the standings with defending champion Axel Dutrie (Drag’on Yamaha).
Earlier in the day, the one-hour Moto Vintage race was won by Florian Miot (Honda), followed by Jean Collignon (Honda) and Sebastien Antony (KTM).
Racing continues on Sunday with the Junior class (90 minutes) in the morning, followed by the main Moto class race later in the day.
