Team Disqualified for Engine Issue

During Round 7 of the 2025 FIM Sidecar World Championship, officials inspected the engine of Team Steinhausen Racing’s sidecar. The engine had been sealed earlier on 2 October for detailed checks after the races, and the seal was confirmed intact after both Race 1 and Race 2.

On 5 October, after the event, the FIM Technical Director examined the engine from Sidecar #1, which had finished 4th in Race 1 and 1st in Race 2. During the inspection, the camshafts were found to be different from the approved (homologated) parts. To investigate further, one camshaft was sent to an FIM-approved analysis institute to check whether it had been altered or treated.

After reviewing the findings and hearing from the technical officials and the team representatives, the FIM Jury concluded that Team Steinhausen Racing’s machine did not comply with the 2025 technical regulations.

Because the engine was sealed before the event and only opened afterward, the Jury decided to disqualify the team from all sessions of the event — including practice, qualifying, Race 1, and Race 2.

Team Steinhausen Racing has appealed this decision to the International Court of Appeal. The disqualification and race results for Round 7 remain pending until the Court issues its ruling.

Further updates will be provided by the FIM when available.
