FIM SON Stakes Raised

Next week’s FIM Speedway of Nations (FIM SON) carries extra significance as the 2025 world champions will earn direct qualification for the 2026 FIM Speedway World Cup (FIM SWC) Final at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy.

Fifteen countries will compete, starting with Semi-Finals 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday. The top three from each Semi-Final will join hosts Poland in the Final on October 4, with the winner securing a spot in the 2026 FIM SWC Final. If Poland wins FIM SON gold, the second-placed country will qualify instead.

The 2026 FIM SWC will be held at three venues, with Semi-Finals in Germany and Latvia. Both nations are guaranteed a spot in their home Semi-Final or direct qualification if they win FIM SON gold. There will be no Race Off in 2026.

All seven 2025 FIM SON finalists will be guaranteed at least one Semi-Final spot, alongside the highest-scoring fourth-placed team from the SON Semi-Finals. Additional slots for the SWC Semi-Finals will be filled by the highest-ranked teams outside Poland, Germany, Latvia, and the FIM SON top finishers.

FIM Track Racing Commission director Armando Castagna expects intense competition, stating that securing a place in the 2026 SWC will make FIM SON highly exciting for teams, riders, and fans alike. Torun promises a dramatic and competitive conclusion to the 2025 FIM Speedway season.
